I think it’s not ideal to tick the option “discourage search engines from indexing this site”. It harms your SEO. Your site will still be indexed and shown up on search results if it’s linked from other sites as well. There are some other methods you can consider to deindex your site such as Password protecting using cPanel or using robot meta tag.
